Bunco Anyone???

Meadow Park neighbors it’s time for the ladies to come out and play!

We are looking for ladies interested in starting a Bunco group.  Bunco is a fun way to get to know neighborhoods you may have never met and to visit with ones you already know.

Bunco groups usually consist of 12 players. The group plays once a month and is hosted by a different player each month. If you have never played Bunco don’t worry, it takes 2 minutes to learn. Bunco is a dice game that simply requires you can count to 21. No previous experience needed, just come ready to have fun. Even if you cannot commit to each month we will need people to sub in case someone cannot make it one month.

I would like to host the first one in January. If you are interested in playing call or email me with your name, phone number, email, and the night of the week that works best for you. We can hopefully come up with a night that works for everyone who would like to play.

Neighborhood Updates!!! Watering, Weeds, & Garage Sale

Hello Meadow Park Neighbors!
Here are a few reminders for our neighborhood.

Grapevine watering restrictions:
The City of Grapevine has currently implemented Mandatory Water Restrictions. Please note there is NO watering allowed for residents except for Wednesday & Saturday if your house number is even , OR Thursday & Sunday if your house number is odd.  Watering times are from 6 pm- 10 am only. Unfortunately the city fines are steep so save some money and some water by setting sprinklers to the assigned days only. More info can be found on the city website. http://www.grapevinetexas.gov

Weeds:
It seems the only thing that thrived in the record breaking heat was the weeds! Now that its a little cooler outside, make sure to weed front flower beds. If you need assistance, Classic Scapes can be hired for $35 and hour. Call Kevin 972 964 9606 for an appointment.
Also note: During the month of November ,Classic Scapes will begin the winter mowing schedule.

Neighborhood Garage Sale:
Save the date: Saturday November 5th  ( 8am-1pm)
Mark your calendars for the Annual Neighborhood Garage Sale! Cost for participation is $10 per household which covers advertising. How it works: Set up in front of your own home, clean out the house and run your own sale. This will mark the seventh year Meadow Park has hosted this successful event. Come join the fun and make some extra cash for the holidays.

Water Restrictions vs. Classic Scapes Mowing on Wednesday

Note, for those of you with an even numbered address, one of your watering days is Wednesday under the new Water Restrictions.  The problem here is that we ask you not to water on days Classic Scapes mows our lawns, to avoid ruts or other damage to the lawn from the mowing equipment.  Unfortunately, Classic Scapes is not able change their mowing day at this time, so we are asking homeowners to set their sprinklers for the very early Wednesday morning, the 1:00 am to 2:00 am time frame is recommended, to allow the lawn time to dry before being mowed.  Hopefully, these water restrictions will be temporary and this inconvenience will be short-lived.  Thanks in advance for you help with this matter!

Grapevine Water Restrictions Starting Monday 8/29/11

See the message below about Water Restrictions starting tomorrow in Grapevine:

Mandatory Water Restrictions Begin August 29
Texas is experiencing the worst one-year drought in the state's history.  No rain means our water supplies are declining and our outdoor watering habits play a big role in this decline.  Tarrant Regional Water District (TRWD), the raw water supplier for almost all of Tarrant County including the Cities of Fort Worth, Arlington, Mansfield, and the Trinity River Authority (TRA) is requesting that all customer cities implement Stage 1 of their Drought Contingency Plan.

Grapevine will comply with TRWD’s request to implement Stage 1 of our Drought Contingency Plan effective September 1, 2011.  This Stage 1 implementation is a result of the combined storage in TRWD reservoirs declining to 75% of the reservoirs’ capacity which is the trigger for Stage 1 implementation.  The goal of this measure is to conserve our water supplies until the reservoirs are replenished by rainfall and runoff.

With Stage 1 implementation, Grapevine will enact TRWD’s recommended watering schedule which includes an odd, even watering schedule.  For additional information visit www.savetarrantwater.com, click on “water restrictions” tab on the left.

Twice-per-week watering restrictions will be mandatory.

Monday - No Watering Allowed
Tuesday and Friday - Non-residential (Apartments, Business, Parks and Common Areas)
Wednesday and Saturday -Residential addresses ending in 0,2,4,6,8
Thursday and Sunday - Residential addresses ending in 1,3,5,7,9
Watering between the hours of 10am and 6pm continues to be prohibited every day of the week.
Save Water. Nothing Can Replace it.

Classic Scapes Taking Over Lawn Maintenance Starting Next Week

As of June 19th Meadow Park will have a new lawn care service for the neighborhood!  It was announced at the Annual Meeting last month that Classic Scapes would take over both the maintenance and chemical treatments of the front lawns and entrances of the neighborhood.

Our mowing day will be Wednesday.  Please do not run sprinklers on that day.

If you would like Classic Scapes to cut your backyard, please call them individually to set up a schedule.  Prices were negotiated to be within the same range as our previous lawn company, $12.50 - $20.00.

Neighborhood Alert: Beer Bottles and other Trash Left in Flower Beds

All,

Please be on the look out for people leaving trash, usually in the form of empty beer bottles and cigarette butts, in or near the community flower beds by the Glade Rd entrance on the south end of the neighborhood.  Just last evening a broken beer bottle was found in the landscape bed, and upon further investigation a large box/case of approximately 12 empty beer bottles was discovered hidden in the bushes.

This is not the first time empty/broken beer bottles have been found in these flower beds.  This may be no more than a stash for teenagers, but at the same time this is a hazard especially to younger kiddos and pets.  We'd appreciate everyone to pay attention to any suspicious activity near this entrance of the neighborhood and please report any unlawful activity to the police and/or reply to this email thread with any details or suggestions as to how the HOA can help with this problem.

Thanks and have a happy Memorial Day.

Latest on Grapevine Main Street Bridge Demo

If you were up in Grapevine Saturday night you saw that traffic was a mess.  Here's a message I received from the DFW Connector website with the latest info.  If your commute takes you through north through Grapevine, I would recommend going to their website and signing up for email alerts about construction and traffic delays.

Main Street Bridge Demo Update
Main Street Bridge is now open to traffic.

However, the mainlanes of SH 114/121 at Main Street still remain closed to finalize demo of the old east side of Main Street Bridge.

The highway is scheduled to open at 6AM on Monday, March 28.

Another Cold Night ...

Weather forecasters are predicting an overnight low of 13 deg for the Grapevine area as we continue this record setting cold streak.  As a reminder please cover any outside faucets to avoid freezing pipes.  Also, there have been reports of some neighbors having frozen pipes in upstairs bathrooms.  Please remember to run hot and cold faucets and flush toilets throughout the day/night to help prevent any major damage.

Also, looks like garbage still hasn't been collected, if anyone has heard when this might be happening pass it along, my guess is it will resume Friday or Saturday ...

Brrrrr ... Cold Weather Reminder about Sprinklers and Outside Faucets

The overnight low temperatures are predicted to be in the teens and twenties over the next few evenings.  Just a reminder to everyone to cover their outside faucets and to please turn off their sprinklers during this cold spell.  There have been instances in the neighborhood where pipes connected to uncovered faucets have burst due to freezing in extremely cold weather, also sidewalks can be quite hazardous if they are covered with ice from homeowner's sprinkler systems.
